Best Fitbit for Kids (13-Year-Olds and Above!)

It’s important for children to be able to monitor their health and fitness, just like adults. Fitbit stands out among other wearable companies because they offer activity trackers that are specifically designed for kids. These trackers can keep track of your child’s activities and help them stay healthy and active. But which trackers has Fitbit designed specifically for kids?

Fitbit currently offers only one watch model for kids, which is the Fitbit Ace. The Ace model includes the Fitbit Ace 2 and Fitbit Ace 3, which are the best Fitbit watches for children aged 13 and above. Children under the age of 13 can use either of these watches under parental supervision.

In this post, we will be discussing the features and activities that your child can track using the Fitbit Ace 2 and the newer Fitbit Ace 3 model. The Fitbit Ace 3 is an upgrade to the previous Fitbit Ace 2 version. Let’s dive into the details without any delay.

Fitbit Ace 2 and Fitbit Ace 3

Fitbit Ace 2 and Fitbit Ace 3 are  99% similar therefore, to avoid repeating myself I will combine all their similar features.

Display and Design

The new Fitbit Ace 3 and earlier Fitbit Ace 2 features monochrome OLED screen displays that are touchscreen.

Unfortunately, unlike the rest of Fitbit smartwatches and activity trackers, the displays on Fitbit Ace 3 and Fitbit Ace 2 are not colored. However, that shouldn’t hinder you from buying either of the trackers for your little boy or girl.

Even though the display is not colored the stats on the Fitbit Ace screens are easy to read.

Fitbit Ace 2 and Fitbit Ace 3 also feature colorful bands. In addition, the bands are replaceable so, if broken you can help your son or daughter replace them.

Here is a post that illustrates how to replace bands on Fitbit watches, Fitbit Ace 3 included.

Activity Tracking

With either of the Fitbit Ace models, you will be able to monitor the steps your kids make each day, their sleep, as well as, their active minutes.

When kids attain their set goals Fitbit Ace 2 and Ace 3 help them celebrate with celebration messages and that way they want to do more because they feel well-motivated.

With a Fitbit Ace 3 or Fitbit Ace 2 your kids will never be late for school again. The Ace models feature a built-in alarm system that will wake your son or daughter when the set time is reached. Unfortunately, you can only set alarms on Fitbit Ace through the Fitbit app.

Here is a post that highlights steps for setting alarms on Fitbit Watches like Ace 2 and Ace 3.

Water Resistance

Kids are die-hard fans of water; Fitbit Ace 2 and Fitbit Ace 3 know that and that is why they are made waterproof.

Understand this, even though Fitbit Ace 2 and Fitbit 3 are considered waterproof, they are not entirely waterproof, rather they are water resistant.

Like most high-end Fitbit watches, Fitbit Ace 2  and Ace 3 have water resistance ratings of 5ATM.

That means kids can wear them in the swimming pool or shower however, while in the show ensure they avoid using detergents, shampoos, and lotions.

Shampoo, detergents, and lotions are some of the agents that reduce Fitbit’s water resistance.

Battery Life

If you are looking to buy the best Fitbit for children that has excellent battery life I suggest you get either the Fitbit Ace 2 or the latest Fitbit Ace 3 activity tracker.

Fitbit Ace 2 and Ace 3 will take approximately 1 to 2 hours to charge to completion. Once fully charged, Fitbit Ace 2 will last for up to 5 days whereas Fitbit Ace 3 will last for up to 8 days, and for that, your kid will spend more time tracking activities.

Fortunately, we don’t have a power-hungry sensor like GPS on the watch, which greatly impacts the battery life of other Fitbit models.

Reasons You Should Buy Fitbit Ace 2 and Fitbit 3 for Kids

  1. Parents need to buy their kids Fitbit Ace 2 or Fitbit Ace 3 to monitor their sleep and that way they will be able to help kids develop better sleeping habits.
  2. Fitbit Ace 2 and Ace 3 can be immersed up to 50 meters below want ad still come out fully functional so, need to panic when you see your kid get into the water with it still on the wrist.
  3. Apart from showing celebration messages, the Fitbit Ace 2 and Ace 3 will award budges to kids once they reach big milestones.
  4. Even though the displays on Fitbit Ace 2 and Ace 3 are dull, the stats are bright hence easy for kids to read.

Reasons You Shouldn’t Buy Fitbit Ace 2 and Fitbit 3 for Kids

  1. The first reason I don’t like Fitbit Ace 2 and Fitbit Ace 3 fitness is, they don’t feature colorful displays. Both screen displays show details in black and white and that gives kids boring vibes. Next time Fitbit designs another tacker for kids they need to make the screen display colored.
  2. I also dislike the Fitbit Ace models because they both don’t feature heart rate monitors. Like adults, kids also need to monitor or have their heart rates monitored. If the heart rate monitor were included on Fitbit Ace 2 and Fitbit Ace 3 parents would know if their kids have heart issues and hence seek medical advice on time.
