Can You Wear Fitbit in the Shower? (Question Answered!)

Fitbits are among the best smartwatches and trackers for sports and workout enthusiasts. As you incorporate Fitbit into your life you may wonder what restrictions it comes along with. For instance, you may wonder if Fitbit is water resistant because you will have it on most of the time and that leaves you with the question, “Can You Wear Fitbit in the Shower?”

Most Fitbit watch models feature a water resistance rating of 5ATM which means they can withstand pressure up to 50 meters below water. Therefore, it is safe to wear any Fitbit Watch in the shower or swimming pool. Speaking of waterproofing, we don’t have a Fitbit smartwatch or activity tracker that is waterproof; Fitbit smartwatches and activity trackers are just showerproof, not waterproof.

Turn on Water Lock When in the Shower with Your Fitbit

Now that you know you can wear Fitbit smartwatches and activity trackers (Ace 3 included) in the shower I would like to point out an important tip.

Before you shower with your Fitbit Charge 5, Versa 4, Versa 3, Charge 4, Sense, Sense 2, or Inspire 3 make sure you turn on the water lock mode.

Water Lock mode is helpful because it prevents the screen from recording taps while in water.

This mode is mostly used when swimming but I would also recommend using it while in the shower too.

How to Turn On/Off Water Lock on Fitbit

So, how do you turn on and off the water lock feature on Fitbit before entering the shower? Turning on or off the water lock on Fitbit is easy follow the steps provided below:

Fitbit Versa 3, Versa 4, Sense, and Sense 2

Fortunately, users that have the Fitbit Versa and Sense Series don’t have to do much as these Fitbit smartwatches turn the water lock feature automatically when they detect you are in contact with water.

The Sense and Versa Series (smartwatch models offered by Fitbit) automatically turn on the water lock. But what about the rest of the Fitbit tracker models?

For models like Fitbit Inspire, Charge, and Luxe, you need to turn on Water Lock manually through quick settings.

Below are steps to help you turn on the water lock mode on Fitbit Inspire 3, Charge 4, Charge 5, and Luxe!

Can My Fitbit Get Wet When Accidentally Mixed with Laundry?

We all forget at some point; you might forget your Fitbit in your coat’s pocket and get it wet while doing laundry. When this happens your device may get water damaged. It’s important you know this, detergents, soaps, lotions, and shampoos affect Fitbit’s water resistance. If you accidentally mix your Fitbit wet with laundry do the following:

  1. Try to turn off Fitbit if it is on to cut off power.
  2. Get Fitbit out of the protective case if any.
  3. Soak a clean cloth in fresh water and wipe Fitbit to get rid of all detergent deposits you see.
  4. With an absorbent cloth wipe off excess water and let your Fitbit dry.
  5. Turn on your Fitbit to see if it is working.

To quicken the drying process dip the water into a bowl o rice. If after doing all of these the Fitbit doesn’t turn on consider getting in touch with Fitbit’s Customer Support.
