If you’re having issues with your Fitbit Watch, you can follow these instructions on how to restart it, this may fix the issue you are having.

Why Should You Restart a Fitbit Smartwatch or Tracker?

Restarting your Fitbit once in a while is important because it can help resolve some of the most common problems.

With a restart, you can fix a Fitbit watch that won’t charge, a Fitbit that won’t touch, a Fitbit that won’t get notifications, a Fitbit that won’t track steps, a Fitbit that won’t track heart rate,  a Fitbit that won’t turn on, a Fitbit that won’t sync, and more. Fortunately, restarting a Fitbit device that won’t work as supposed isn’t hard.

Here are steps to help you restart a Fitbit Charge, Versa, Sense, Inspire, Ionic, Blaze, and Luxe

Restart Fitbit Devices (Short and Simple Steps)

How to Restart a Fitbit Versa Series, Blaze, Sense Series, and Ionic

To restart Fitbit Versa 2, Versa 3, Versa 4, Sense, and Sense 2, press and hold the side button > Release the side button once you see the Fitbit logo appear on the screen > Let the watch reboot.

To restart the original Fitbit Versa, Ionic, and Blaze, press and hold the back button and the bottom button > Release the side and back buttons once you see the Fitbit logo displayed on the screen > Allow the watch to complete the reboot process.

Alternatively, on your Fitbit Sense or Versa go to Quick Settings on your Fitbit > Tap About > And then select Shutdown > Press the Power button to turn your Fitbit back on.

How to Restart a Fitbit Inspire 2, Inspire 3, and Fitbit Luxe (Without the Charger)

If your Fitbit Inspire 2, Inspire 3, or Luxe has a touchscreen that is working consider the following steps to restart it.

Go to Settings on your Fitbit watch > Tap on the Restart Device option > Select Restart or Reboot to restart your Fitbit device.

How to Restart a Fitbit Inspire 2, Inspire 3, and Fitbit Luxe with the Charger

If the screen on your Fitbit Inspire Series or Luxe won’t touch consider trying to restart using the USB charging cable and here is how you will do it.

Connect your Fitbit Luxe to your charging cable > Press the button you see on the charging cable 3 times pausing for a second after each press.

If you have a Fitbit Inspire 2 or Inspire 3 connect it to the charger, then press the button you see on the charger. Keep holding the button for at least 10 seconds or until you see the Fitbit logo appear on the screen. Now allow your Fitbit time to reboot.

How to Restart Fitbit Charge 5

To restart your Fitbit Charge 5 do the following: 

Open the Quick Setting Panel > Tap on Settings > Scroll and tap About > Select Restart Device > Tap Restart to initiate reboot on your Charge 5.

How to Restart All Fitbit Charge Models (Fitbit Charge 2/Charge 3/Charge 4)

  1. Plug the charging cable for your Fitbit Charge into the USB port on your computer or USB wall charger.
  2. Connect the charging end to your Fitbit Charge.
  3. Press and hold the side button until you see the Fitbit logo or a smiley face appear on your Fitbit Charge’s screen.
  4. Disconnect your Fitbit from the charger once the restart process is complete and test it for performance.

How to Restart Fitbit Ace 2, Ace 3, Inspire, and Inspire HR

To reboot your Fitbit Inspire, Inspire HR, or your kid’s Ace 2 or Ace 3:

Plug the USB charging cable into your computer or USB wall charger > Connect the charging end to the watch > Press and hold the side button > Keep holding the side button until you see the Fitbit logo appear on the screen > Disconnect the charger and use your watch to test its performance.

An Alternative Way to Restart the Fitbit Inspire Watch

You can also reboot your Fitbit Inspire 2 and Inspire 3 in the following way:

Go to the Quick Setting Panel > Tap on Settings > Scroll and tap Reboot > Follow the simple on-screen instructions > Give your Fitbit time to reboot. Thereafter you can test the tracker’s performance.

How to Restart Fitbit Flex

If you still have a Fitbit Flex or Flex 2, here is how you will restart it.

Remove Fitbit Flex from the band > Plug it into its USB charger > With a paper clip press down the button on the USB charger > Wait for 3 seconds and the tracker will restart.

How to Restart Fitbit Alta

If you want to restart your Fitbit Alta or your child’s Fitbit Ace follow the steps that follow:

  1. Plug the charger into the USB of your computer, you can also use a USB wall charger for this.
  2. Connect the other end of the charger to your Fitbit Alta or your kid’s Fitbit Ace.
  3. Press the button you see on the charging cable 3 times, pausing for a second after each press. The tracker will display the Fitbit logo and then vibrate to indicate the restart process has started.

Disconnect the tracker from the charging cable and unplug the cable from power. Test your Fitbit Fitbit Alta or your kid’s Fitbit Ace for performance.
